Such a lovely and heartfelt story. Ivy’s family has lost their home in a tornado and as they come to terms with the loss and the necessary rebuild, Ivy is also figuring out who she is. An amazing story about family, friendship, and most importantly, loving yourself.

I loved this book! Love, stardom, friendship all wrapped up in a fantastic story. 

Two friends decide to get a pet and share it, and then tragedy strikes. A powerful story of loss and love, well suited for younger readers. Many of my students have read and loved this story.

Loved this book! Great characters, fantastic repartee, and a fun, and heartwarming, story. Rico is a gas station cashier and sells a jackpot lotto ticket on Christmas Eve. She is fairly certain she knows who it was, and when the woman doesn't claim it, she decides she's going to try find the woman. And maybe, just maybe, get some of the winnings too, which would help her cash-strapped family. She needs help to do this, so she asks rich boy, Zan, to help her out. Will she find the ticket in time and will she benefit from the winnings?

YA romance with the important message that we should be loved for we are not for what someone hopes we become. 

An important story about consent and that no means no. This story deals with the embarrassment of not being listened to, being told the boys probably just you and that’s what why they’re harassing you, and the strength it takes to ask for help. A must-have for all school libraries.

A fun read for any middle-grade kid who likes basketball, sports in general or even drama. A middle-grade basketball team loses their tyranical coach and he is replaced by the school's drama teacher. Funny, sweet, all round good read. Written by EDMONTON author Alison Hughes.

Another feel-good book. I read it to two classes this year and we still talk about it. Macy is dealing with some big life changes and is helped to see her life from a different perspective when she befriends her elderly neighbour. A great book for anyone grade 4-7

This book is fabulous!! Dominica is a grade 8 student at Mitchell academy. This state-of-the-art school boasts high levels of security, and the motto Security breeds success, including cameras in all parts of the school. Things sour at the school when videos of students and staff in embarrassing situations (falling, turning a shirt right side out in a dark corner, fly open with shirt poking out to name a few) begin to be posted on the school’s site. Dominica is not ok with this, and using things she learns from a current project on Banksy, gets an idea on how to launch a rebellion against these security measures. Loved this book so much and I have added a copy to my classroom library.
