Another opportunity for me to learn about someone who made such a difference in the world, whom I had never heard of before. Payne fought for black rights in a time where so many were fighting against them. Especially appropriate with what's going on in the world today.

This book is going on my list of most loved picture books. The memories (symbolically represented here by balloons) that we have from our life stay with us and grow in number as we get older. The young boy starts to notice that his grandfather, who has so many memories, is losing some of them. He is so sad by this loss until his parents show him that he himself is gaining balloons as his grandfather loses his, memories and stories that his grandfather has shared with him.

A fun picture book about not giving up.

Zahra feel many feelings and colours each day and it most proud of the glowing brown colour of her skin, until her first day of school when someone says they don't like brown skin. That night at dinner her parents tell her why she should be proud to be brown, like so many amazing people in the world.

A giggly, fun story that kids will really enjoy! Princess Pinecone is a warrior princess and really, really wants a big strong horse for her birthday. Instead her parents give her a little, chubby pony. She takes it to battle and soon discovers it brings out the kinder, cuddlier side of her warrior foes. I love the message that you don’t have to be big and strong to be awesome.

A coastal town in Newfoundland has a puffin problem. This delightful book not only introduces readers to puffins, but to a part of Newfoundland as well.

This book gets me every time I read it. Beautiful pictures support this lovely story about loss, grief, and learning you can love again.
