When Mayumi was born, her Ojiichan in Japan makes a garden for her. Each summer she visits him for 2 months and he teaches how to care for the garden and how to find peace out there. One summer, they go for their annual visit and discover that Ojiichan is no longer able to stay in his home and the garden is no longer the beautiful place it used to be. Mayumi's first reaction is anger and then she once again starts caring for the garden and find her peace, and a wonderful idea to keep this special place alive in both hers and her grandfather's hearts and memory. What a gift this book is! A young boy and his Moshom (grandfather in Cree) fly north to see his grandfather’s old trapline. Filled with stories of the past, a sprinkling of Cree words, and indigenous culture, this book is a magnificent.

A beautifully honest portrayal of anxiety for kids. Using the image of vines for anxiety gives the reader the needed visual to better understand how anxiety impacts people. I especially love how this girl talks about the wonderful things she has in her life and yet she still has anxiety, allowing kids to understand that even when they have great things happening in their lives, it's ok to still feel anxiety.

A beautiful wordless picture book about a brown bag and its journey through many years of special moments. This author's intent is to show the value of reusing items in this world of so much disposability.

The cover caught my attention on this book and oh what a fun and silly book this is. It becomes quite a calamity when the young girl gets gum in her hair and everyone around her has a solution they are sure will work.
