Hee Jun and his family move from Korea to the US and it is huge adjustment for all of them, and especially his grandmother. While he felt ordinary in Korea, he feels strange and weird in his new home. His grandmother doesn’t feel like she has a purpose anymore until one day she is needed. Hee Jun also remembers how much his grandmother loved her garden in Korea and is able to find something that reminds her of home.

He tells her they need a cup of sugar for the medicine, but she can only take it from a home who has not suffered a loss. She goes from neighbour to neighbour and discovers they have all suffered loss. She returns to Stillwater to say that she wasn't able to get the sugar but has learned that everyone has suffered loss and that she too will be ok. Stunning pictures and a beautiful message makes this a must have.

This poem in picture book format intricately explores one teen boy's emotions as he lives some dark moments in his neighbourhood. What I especially love is that he finds hope in the end.

A fantastic book about Elgin Baylor. I so appreciate this book and being able to learn about Baylor, who I didn"t know about before, and the time in history that he was making his impact on the world of basketball.
