Such a beautiful story on the history of stories, from where we started to where we are now. Over the centuries the way we share stories has changed, however, our need for stories hasn't.

A simply written story, yet such an important story to have in classrooms and libraries. A young girl is constantly frustrated when she is made to wear dresses and pretty clothes that she doesn't like, because she feels she is a boy. Finally her mom buys her a bathing suit that makes her happy wear (shorts and shirt). At the pool she meets new kids and they play joyfully until her mom calls her by name which stops them in their play because the other kids assumed she was a boy. She shares with these kids that she feels like she is a boy and they tell her they have other friends who are transgender like her and accept her entirely and completely as she is. This acceptance and learning gives her the confidence to finally tell mom and dad and she finally gets the haircut she wants, and the acceptance she always hoped for.
