Fred needs to get dressed and he ends up in his parents’ closet. He isn’t interested in dressing like his dad, but he loves his mom’s clothes, so he creates a lovely outfit from her clothes. Fred hears mom and dad coming into the room and there is momentary concern for their reaction, but they embrace and support his choice.

Set in Louisiana in the early 1800s, this is the story of the black slaves who worked in the area and the endless work they had to do each day. Come Sunday afternoon though they would all congregate in Congo Square in New Orleans to dance and sing and be together. This was their small moment of joy each week. Beautiful illustrations and rhyming language support this important and vibrant story.

The story of the incomparable Mr. Rodgers. I remember watching his show as a kid and the joy he emanated to the world each day through our televisions.

A bright and bold picture book that both kids and parents will enjoy. Bedtime becoming a wrestle fest is surely something most parents could relate to.

Spent some time in the bookstore today and discovered this wonderful picture book. With beautiful pictures and the lyrics from Kinew's rap song, this book introduces the reader to many of the indigenous people in Canada and the USA who made significant impacts to our countries. At the end of the book Kinew provides more detailed information about each of the people mentioned in the book. This is a must-have for a classroom/school library.

Another fabulous picture about the life and impact of Malala.

A beautiful story about coming from far away and having a hard time adjusting to a new country and school.

I have of course heard about this journey, but the beautiful picture book taught me far more about the experience and the importance this holds to Muslims.
