This lovely picture book is perfect for children and families deal with loss. The Last Goodbye frames death in terms of how animals deal with it and so much of what they do is what we do as we deal with loss and grief. An important addition to all bookshelves.

Months ago I heard about this book and pre-ordered it. Wow! Masterfully written, this story, which I only knew the headline version of, is unbelievably intense, scary, and so full of hope. This is a must for school libraries and for kids gr. 5-6+. I had no idea of the dangers people from all around the world put themselves in to save these boys, nor the scope of this rescue.

Oof. This picture book is remarkable, powerful, and unforgettable. Written in verse, the reader is told the history of how African-Americans helped build the USA we have now. Intricately woven words accompanied by mighty illustrations make this a book that all personal and public libraries should include in their collection.

This guidebook about the they/them pronouns, in the format of a graphic novel, is brilliantly simple, yet so important. The authors explain these pronouns, the importance of identifying the people around us correctly, and how taking the time to learn and use these pronouns shows that we value others for who they are. A must have in all school libraries, classrooms, and homes.

This book will open your eyes and make you consider the actions and words that you use around the children in your life. Ibram Kendi has written many important books about racism, and I think that this one is a game-changer. Yes, it’s a picture book, but it’s for everyone who has an impact on the lives of kids. The first line of Kendi’s book, “Antiracist Baby is bred, not born.”, says is all.

This book was a life-changer for me. I gained a whole new perspective on how to look at the world. I was lucky enough to share some of the teachings from this book with my students and even had some ask to read it themselves. A wonderful non-fiction book for classroom and school libraries!

A fantastic book about Elgin Baylor. I so appreciate this book and being able to learn about Baylor, who I didn"t know about before, and the time in history that he was making his impact on the world of basketball.

Gino Barteli was a well known cyclist in Italy and won the Tour de France in 1938, shortly before the start of WWII. Only recently has his true heroics during the war come to light. He used his bike and cycling ability to help save over 800 Jewish people from certain death by transporting papers in the tubes of his bike, for these people to be able leave the country for safer places.

Yet another fascinating woman I am meeting for the first time. Zaha Hadid has contributed innovatively and passionately to the world of architecture. Her story is one that will interest many and inspire countless young girls.
