This lovely book enthralled me from the beginning. Set in the 1920s, Ophie is a young black girl who is awoken by her dad one night and he tells her to get her mom and go hide. This warning ends up saving their lives. She also hears later that her dad died much earlier that evening and she is told that he couldn’t have warned her. It is then that she starts to realise that she is able to communicate with ghosts. When she and her mom get a job as servants in a huge mansion she meets more ghosts and decides to help solve a mysterious death that happened many years earlier. An interesting story mixed with historical facts makes this a fantastic book.

This fun sci-fi/ fantasynovel would be a great addition to classroom libraries. Caitlin is a misfit at school and in life. After a big story she rescues an unusual creature off a nearby beach. She bring him (Perigee) home and helps him recover but little does she know the worldwide disasters this will cause.

Just finished this great book and I can see why kids love it! Shuri is a smart, innovative, and brave girl who is helping her brother keep Wakanda safe. Girl power at its best! I particularly love the friendship between Shuri and K'Marah and how they support and embolden each other. I hope there will be more of these books to come!

I loved this book because it was about so many things I know so very little about- set in Victorian England this is the story of a young chimney sweep as she faces huge personal loss and discovers the love of others around her.

Dove into this graphic novel series and couldn’t put it down. While I don’t have the Marvel background knowledge to these characters, I enjoyed this graphic novel, as I think many teens will.

An intriguing and timely middle grade fantasy filled that explore Indigenous culture. Morgan and Eli are Indigenous foster kids in Winnipeg, and by all accounts have a wonderful new foster home. This is one of many for Morgan because she has been from foster home to foster home since she was young. For Eli, this is his first, and he misses his family terribly. Morgan lives angrily in this world, and has very little trust in the people around her, while Eli lives in sadness and spends much of his time drawing. One day Morgan and Eli discover that one of his pictures is in fact a portal to new world. When Eli disappears, Morgan is certain he has gone to this new world and heads through the portal too. There begins a fantastical adventure in this new world where they both come to learn more about who they are and make connections to their past and the Indigenous culture they are part of.
