I'm not sure that I can properly explain the power of this book. Jerome is a black 12yr old boy who is shot by a police officer in Chicago. And there begins the story of forgiveness and awareness. I just finished this as a read aloud with my grade 6s today and I think we all walk away from this with changed hearts and minds.

Erin Entrada Kelly's (also author of the amazing Hello, Universe) newest book is a beautiful fantasy novel about an epic journey of one young girl to save her village.

I cannot say enough good things about this astounding novel. It's one of those epic stories you sink into and lose track of time. Two beautiful interweaving stories, set during the last year of WWI, told by the Greek Gods Aphrodite, Ares, Apollo and Hades. A brilliant concept that creates an exquisite story you can't put down

A wonderful novel about the magic of wishes and the power of believing. This grade 3+ novel has everything a kid could want- adventure, friendship, talking animals (my particular favourite was the French-accented Canadian Goose who was full of attitude), and wishes being granted. So much love for this wonderful story.

Such a great book!! Bree is starting her first year in an early-admittance program for gifted teens at UNC-Chapel Hill after having suffered the horrible loss of her mother. On her first night there she witnesses and experiences magic and at once is drawn into the world of a secret society dating back the King Arthur and his knights. Soon she discovers that she too has a connection to this society and that it may hold the answers to the questions surrounding mother’s death. As she meets the Legendborn, all descendants of King Arthur and his knights, she learns they are on the brink of a war of magic. Intricately crafted, this captivating story engages the reader with its connections to history, both to that of King Arthur and that of slavery in the south, and with a strong female protagonist facing this world and its battles. Sequel comes out in 2022.

I have had this book on my reading list for a long time and it is such great story. Nolie has come to Journey's End, Scotland to spend the summer with her scientist father who is there studying the Boundary, a wall of fog that sits off the shores of the town. She soon learns the history and stories about the Boundary as she becomes friends with local girl Bel. Strange things start happening and a tragic event happens which forces Nolie and Bel to question history and how to undo potential disaster. A wonderful page turner full of suspense and mystery.

Thank goodness for summer break and fabulous books. Lore is phenomenally written, gripping story that has caused me to accomplish very little over the past few days because I couldn’t put it down.
